Contacting The Pond through this site

This site does not have a contact form that submits information through its own servers. The “Email The Pond” button and the email address on the Contact page open your own email app with a blank message addressed to The Pond — what you write goes straight to The Pond’s inbox, the same as if you’d typed the address in yourself. This website never sees it.

There are no accounts, no login, and no newsletter signup anywhere on the site.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand which pages get visited and how many people are visiting. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, your approximate location (from your IP address), your device and browser type, and the site or search engine that sent you here.

That information is processed by Google, under Google’s own privacy policy, and is used in aggregate: to see which pages are useful, not to identify who is reading them individually.

The site also keeps a small first-party record in your browser’s local storage of how you first arrived, such as the search engine, link or campaign that brought you here. It stays in your browser, it is not sent to any company other than Google Analytics as part of the page-view data above, and clearing your browser’s site data removes it.

Your choices

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, this site treats it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of your information and tells Google to withhold the advertising signals before anything else loads. There is no advertising on this site today, so in practice that signal is a guarantee rather than a change.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and the first-party arrival record are switched off by default and nothing on this site turns them on.

Anywhere, you can block Google Analytics with a browser extension or by clearing and blocking cookies for this site; the site works the same either way.

What else this website loads from elsewhere

Every photograph, and every typeface, is served from this site’s own address rather than a third party; the fonts are bundled in at build time, not requested from a font service. Apart from the Google analytics tools described above, there are no advertising pixels, no social media widgets and no chat widgets on this site.

This site embeds The Pond’s public Google Calendar directly on the homepage, and on the Live Music and Karaoke pages, to show what’s on. Unlike the links below, that calendar loads from Google as soon as the page does — Google may set cookies through it, under Google’s own privacy policy, the same as the Google Analytics use described above.

Links to Google Maps, Facebook and Instagram are ordinary links — nothing is contacted until you choose to follow one, and once you do, that company’s own privacy policy applies rather than this one.

Server logs

This site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records technical information about requests — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, and the browser’s user-agent string — for the purpose of serving the site, keeping it available and defending it against abuse. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you and we do not combine them with anything else.

Phoning the bar

The phone number on this site is the bar’s own line. If you call it — to place a to-go order, or to ask what is on tonight — you are talking to The Pond, not to this website, and nothing about that call passes through here.

The statements above are checkable: they describe how this site is built, and they can be verified by opening your browser’s network tools on any page and looking at where the requests go. If you find something on this site that contradicts this page, that is a fault worth telling us about, and the contact details are below.
